On June 13, 2013 EARTH welcomed on its Guácimo campus Ambassador Riyad Mansour, Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations. Dr. Mansour’s visit centered on learning about EARTH’s academic model and exploring opportunities for joint initiatives between EARTH and Palestinian universities.
During his visit, he met with EARTH Provost Dr. Daniel Sherrard, as well as with students Cecilia Rezabala (‘13, Ecuador), Aloyce Gonzaga (‘14, Kenya), Charbel Asemaani (‘15, Lebanon) and David Molina (‘15, Costa Rica).
Commenting on the visit Provost Sherrard reflected, “It never ceases to amaze me the potential for academic exchange to lead to greater understanding of the seemingly intractable problems of our world, and I can see great benefit to increasing our student and faculty exchanges with institutions in the Middle East.”
While on campus, Dr. Mansour also toured EARTH’s banana packing plant and peri-urban agriculture module.
