EARTH students speak at dinner hosted by U.S. Ambassador

EARTH students and U.S. Ambassador Anne Andrew

Last Thursday, May 23, 2013,EARTH University president Jose Zaglul and three EARTH students spoke at the fifth and final “Sustainable by Design” dinner hosted by U.S. Ambassador to Costa Rica Anne Andrew. The dinners have served to unite a diverse audience of academics, community leaders and institutions in Costa Rica that share a common interest in sustainable development.

During the event, president Zaglul highlighted the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) role in the creation of EARTH and emphasized the importance of education in building more sustainable and just societies.  Three  EARTH students Annet Mukamurenzi (’16, Rwanda), Hajaratu Wumbei (’15, Ghana) and Tatiana Salas (’13, Ecuador) also presented about their entrepreneurial projects developed at EARTH.

Tatiana Salas said, “I enjoyed the dinner, it was great to be surrounded by people that have companies who are committed to being sustainable and that it really can be done. It was also very beneficial to me, since I am graduating soon and it’s a good way to make contacts for the future.”
