Twentieth graduation ceremony to be broadcast live online

December 3, 2012—This week the University will be welcoming family, friends, donors and special guests to its campus to celebrate its twentieth graduation ceremony, in which a new class of leaders will return to their countries to promote positive change and contribute to the their nations’ social and environmental well-being. Throughout the week there will be cultural activities and events to welcome graduates’ loved ones.

The commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, December 7 at 10 a.m. (CST/GMT-6) and will be broadcast live online in Spanish and English* at www.earth.ac.cr/graduacion2012.  Addressing graduates will be Costa Rican President, Laura Chinchilla and keynote speaker, Gabriela Frias, a well-recognized reporter from CNN in Spanish.

“For the University, each new graduating class renews EARTH’s commitment to preparing leaders of change. The young people graduating this Friday are a testament that through effort, dedication and working with conviction, they will be able to return to their homes to join in the task of creating a more prosperous and just society,” commented the University’s Dean, Edgar Alvarado.

During the ceremony, in addition to sending off the graduates, EARTH will honor three founding members of its boards with honorary doctorates: Dr. Norman Brown, who sadly passed away in September; Mr. Randal Teague, president of the EARTH University Board of Trustees; and former Costa Rican President and emeritus Board member, Mr. Luis Alberto Monge.
