PROMES sponsors the First International Conference of Women Entrepreneurs

The First International Congress of Women Entrepreneurs took place at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Cariari, San José on Tuesday, March 20, providing 85 small business owners the tools to maximize their strengths through training workshops given by prominent national and international lecturers. Thanks to the support of PROMES, ten small business owners from the counties of Guatuso, Sarapiquí and Pocosí in the province of Limón, Costa Rica were able to participate.

During the conference, attendees had the opportunity to create partnerships and develop connections in the female entrepreneurial market, and exhibit and perform demonstrations of their products, which included craftworks made of recycled materials; dried fruit; black pepper; and pineapple.

Ms. Mónica Araya, President of the Chamber of Exporters of Costa Rica, and Mr. Karl Ayala, President of the University of Sol, Morelos, in Mexico, participated in the activity and Ms. Melba Pazos, President of the Congress of Women Leaders of Guatemala, gave a talk entitled, “Wake Up, Be Bold, and Transform.”

PROMES (Promoting Sustainable Markets for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Rural Producers in Costa Rica) is a four-year project led by EARTH University that is financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (ACEID, in Spanish) to support the growth of micro, small and medium-sized businesses and small-scale rural farmers in order to improve the quality of life of their communities.
