Simon is originally from Wales in the U.K. but spent more than 20 years teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Asia, firstly in Taiwan, then Vietnam, and most recently in Japan. He has a keen interest in sustainability and was a contributing author to the best-selling Carbon Almanac and the author of “Dear Indy: A Father’s Plea for Climate Action”. He also created the EFL website “Discuss Earth” to bring together students from around the world to discuss global issues in the English medium. He holds a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL) from Sheffield Hallam University in England and specializes in utilizing Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) to engage language students in global issues to help motivate them to actively find solutions, both individually and collaboratively. His teaching philosophy is centered on Transformational Learning (TL) with an overarching aim of helping students to think critically about the world around them.
