Applied Genetics / Second-Year Coordinator
Ana Cristina teaches Applied Genetics focusing on plant selection, biotechnology techniques for genetic improvement, and applications at EARTH University. She is also the Second-Year Academic Coordinator and supports the Work Experience program in areas such as germplasm banks and the ornamental nursery.
She holds a Master’s of Science in Biotechnology with an emphasis in plant breeding using molecular markers and a Ph.D. in Education specializing in agricultural management. Her research has focused on cultivating cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum L), and she is currently working on projects on this crop. Before coming to EARTH University, she developed a research program in Colombia on the genetic improvement of cardamom, which has high production standards in quality and quantity.
