Alexander teaches Tropical Crop Production, Sustainable Crop Production and Community Development courses at EARTH University. He has a solid background in agronomy and natural resources management. He graduated from EARTH University. He holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resource Management and a Ph.D. in Sustainable Agriculture, from the University of Bonn, Germany. During his professional career he has held different positions in multinational corporations and non-governmental organizations associated with International Cooperation in Latin American, African and European countries, in positions such as Director of Research, Director of projects and programs aimed at rural development, food security, climate change, management of energy resources and sustainable production. Prior to teaching at EARTH, he served as Director of Research and Technology Transfer at the Costa Rican Rice Corporation. Additionally, for more than 15 years he has been an international consultant for the public and private sectors. He combines teaching, research and field work to promote sustainable agriculture that guarantees the health of natural ecosystems and stimulates the bioeconomy. He has authored and co-authored technical and scientific publications and has given lectures and talks at universities in different countries.
