Amanda grew up just outside Puerto Cortés, Honduras. Amanda has always enjoyed spending time and helping on her grandparents’ farm: horseback riding, making cheese and chocolate, and tasting the first batch of butter.
Amanda is excited to be at EARTH University. Puerto Cortés is a “region that has a lot of potential to grow, but it hasn’t yet and people have to travel far away for jobs. It shouldn’t have to be that way. There is a lot of potential for tourism, there’s a lot of beautiful, fertile land that isn’t being used to it’s potential.” Amanda plans to return to Honduras to help on her grandparents’ farm and to work with her older sister, who is also studying at EARTH. The sisters hope to start a company that could create jobs for the unemployed members of their community.
