Although he was born in Xai-Xai, a city in the southern Gaza province of Mozambique, Hélio’s family presently lives in the capital, Maputo.
Hélio has learned about cultivation while helping his mother, brother, and uncle care for his mother’s land in the Gaza province whenever he could.
When a relative told him about EARTH, he became interested in the school and connected with a successful EARTH graduate in Mozambique. He dreams of someday owning a farm, and he hopes that the business will enable him to help those in need in his community, especially children who do not have the resources to attend primary school.
He hopes to guide his community toward both greater sustainability and more shared wealth.
