Fred is from Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. He will be the first member of his family to receive a university education. Many people in Fred’s community are illiterate, including all of his family except for himself and his older sister. He has always made education a priority in his life and would like to cure his village of the “scourge of illiteracy and unemployment” that makes it impossible to escape a life of poverty.
His biggest dream is to “establish a transformation of life in my village and be a leader of change for the future. I want to focus on raising livestock, mainly pigs, transforming their waste material into biogas and using the residue to enrich farmland.” Fred also wants to learn more about growing, processing and selling coffee on a large scale.
