Daniela grew up in a rural community in Cañas in the north of Costa Rica. Growing up next to a lagoon, she has always enjoyed being outdoors.
After graduating from EARTH University, Daniela wants to encourage “people to grow good quality food, but to not make it more expensive. I want everyone to have access to it. Here in Costa Rica, organic products are more expensive. They tell you not to eat food that has chemicals in it, so they offer you organic food, but those who can’t afford it are left to eat lower quality products. I believe it shouldn’t have to be that way. Organic farming is profitable because you’re not spending money on agrochemicals, so organic produce should be more affordable.”
Daniela also plans to reach out to other people in her community “who don’t know how to grow their own food and are in financial need. I want to show them how to grow and eat their own food, which would help them out a lot.”
