Scholar: Alex Kyeyune Scholar: Ana Marian González

Allan comes from semi-rural Kyankwanzi, in central Uganda. During his secondary education Allan chose to pursue agriculture instead of the more popular medical and engineering pathways. He knew EARTH was right for him because it focuses on necessary intersections: “Conservation and agriculture are brothers. To practice sustainable agriculture, one must learn to conserve. If you spoil the environment, you won’t be able to use it the following years.”

After graduating, Allan wants to work in the areas of clean water, sustainable agriculture, and education. “The education system in my country needs to be fixed. People have the knowledge, but don’t know how to apply it. I’d like to build my own agricultural college or model farm to teach people how to apply theory and protect natural resources. I want to see Uganda at the top of the agricultural sector in East Africa, increasing revenue, jobs, standard of living, and food security.”
