Wendy grew up in Ayacucho, Peru. When she was a girl, her father would take her to community meetings and Wendy grew to appreciate the “relationship between agriculture, the community and the general development of societies.”

After she graduates from EARTH University, Wendy wants to return to Ayacucho and “focus on community development as a sociologist to facilitate communication between non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the communities.” She wants to work with NGOs, because they offer their help freely and communities trust them more than government organizations. Wendy also hopes to increase `, or tara, production in her community. Tara is a plant that is mostly grown for ornamental purposes due to its large colorful flowers. There is an increasing demand for tara and Wendy wants to create a company that would use and teach the various uses of tara, from flavoring ice cream to making cosmetics.
