Yahaya is from a city called Tamale in the northern region of Ghana. In high school, Yahaya excelled in sports and was a Red Cross volunteer. He also started a tutoring business in his community that helped prepare students for examinations. After high school, Yahaya began a business producing flour from corn and selling it in the community.

Yahaya learned about EARTH through Internet research. “I saw how the education is practical, and that is very different from the education in Ghana. For that reason, it was very attractive to me.” Yahaya has plans for when he returns to Ghana. “I want to continue and expand my business. Back home they still use outdated forms of agriculture, and I have already been seeing here how I can change that. I want to educate and provide employment for them.”
