Neema was born and raised in Iringa, a small rural town in the southern part of Tanzania. During high school, she took a practical geography class that made her realize she wanted to study agriculture because “It has a part to play in the lives of people all over the world.”
One of the reasons she chose to attend EARTH University is because “It is a multicultural place and people are concerned about learning how to do things, not just academics. I knew at EARTH I would learn values and ways of living, which I can share with people when I go home.”
When she returns to Tanzania, Neema plans to “Produce crops using modern techniques and show people that even with a small piece of land you can grow food for yourself. I want to teach people how to care for their crops, their livestock and themselves.”
