Maria is from the state of Chiapas in Mexico.
Maria found out about EARTH when she was 12 years, and explains that “It was my dream for seven years to come here, and when I found out I had been accepted and received a full scholarship I went tearing through the house screaming and woke everyone up at five in the morning. They were so happy for me and I just knew everything was going to turn out great.”
Maria is most eager to learn about new production techniques and organic fertilizer because “Chiapas is a state with a lot of rural areas and people that work very hard but in the end, they sell their products and barely break even. It’s not fair that way, and I want to be able to help them and tell them what they can do to be more productive and earn a fair wage.”
