Luis is from the city of Huatusco, in the largely agricultural province of Veracruz.
Luis first heard about EARTH when he was 13 years old, and decided to come to the University because “Other universities fill you up with books but they don’t offer you the chance to practice in the field like they do here.”
He is eager to learn how he can develop as a leader of change for his region and his country as a whole. “I want to learn how to start conversations in communities because even with good intentions, you can’t just go somewhere and start changing a ton of things at once. You have to see what people need, and then start thinking about solutions.”
“People today have lost their desire to be outside and work in the field, but not me. I was born in the country and that’s where I want to stay.”
