Josué is from the town of Jinotega, in the northern part of Nicaragua. His family farms a variety of crops, including coffee.
One of the things Josué is most eager to learn at EARTH is everything related to coffee cultivation and production. “For people like my father, the prices that buyers give them for their coffee are extremely low and unfair. I would like to form a cooperative and not only teach them new things, but help fight for better wages.”
He also plans on sharing the knowledge he gains at EARTH with producers in his region, explaining that “Farmers in my area have a very low production rate, and I want to show them how they can change that. It’s not about having an enormous amount of land; it is knowing how to best take advantage of what you have.”
