Arely is from urban Choluteca, the capital city of the department of Choluteca, in southern Honduras. She learned about opportunities at EARTH from a graduate, the daughter of her father’s friend.
Arely is particularly interested in EARTH’s renowned renewable energy courses. “Global energy use is out of control. Community-based renewables like wind and solar take some power from the hands of multinational energy companies and give it back to the people.”
Upon graduating, she hopes to start an agribusiness that will not only be a source of employment in her community, but will also help women. “Women need an extra hand to realize their potential and get ahead. I don’t want them to be abandoned any longer.”
