Daniela has always like being outdoors. Both of her grandfathers owned farms in the semi-rural area of Chimaltenango, Guatemala, where she grew up. One had a coffee farm and the other one owned livestock.
Daniela is looking forward to learning more about animal production, natural resource protection, and irrigation. She hopes to have her own livestock business someday in Guatemala. She recognizes agronomy as a way to improve the lives of people in her community. “I would love to create employment for many people in my town. I want to educate them about ways to conserve our resources and the importance of reforestation. In the past 25 years, half of our forests have disappeared; I want to do something about it.”
