Sebastián comes from Olanchito, a medium-sized town in northern central Honduras. His grandfather nourished Sebastián’s love for the natural world at a young age by teaching him about the field and cattle on his farm, and Sebastián’s connection with nature continued to grow with his studies at an agricultural high school. He heard about EARTH through a cousin who had interned here. He speaks persuasively of the connections between such environmental and economic problems and the need for farmers to act as stewards of the land, who will continually reinvest in it for the long term. Someday, he dreams of teaching others in his community about what he has learned at EARTH, whether in a formal academic setting or as a business leader.
