Born in Zimbabwe, Rumbidzai’s family moved to Botswana when she was still a baby.

For secondary school Rumbidzai attended African Leadership Academy (ALA) in South Africa where she served as the director of a community service project. Her group’s agricultural project worked to empower a small community to grow food for themselves and to use profits from the produce they sold to improve the community’s quality of life.

Zimbabwe depends on agriculture, but in recent years the agricultural economy has struggled to stabilize and to grow. Rumbidzai recognizes the untapped opportunity of Zimbabwe’s fertile land and wants to use her EARTH degree to help her country take advantage of it. She hopes “that one day I will own my own farm and plant different types of crops, and have different animals, and then open my own restaurant. I love food, and I want to have people taste foods from around the world!”
