A member of the Mano tribe, Festus grew up in a small village in Nimba cCounty in Liberia. Growing up, whenever Festus was not studying he was helping on his family members’ farms and has always enjoyed agriculture.

Now at EARTH, Festus shares that he was drawn to study agriculture at EARTH not only because of his family members’ farms, but also because “In Liberia most of us survive on agriculture. Agriculture for us is our source of living.”

Festus realized at an early age that in Liberia, no matter how hard the students work, most of them become taxi-motorcyclists because they cannot afford to attend university. When he returns home, he sees an opportunity to create jobs in Liberia for students who would otherwise become taxi-motorcyclists by starting his own agricultural company.
