Elizabeth grew up on her family’s farm in Nyahururu, a town in Kenya’s Central Province, north of Nairobi. Her family grows corn, potatoes, and other vegetables. During holidays, Elizabeth also enjoyed planting, and teaching others how to plant tree seedlings at a nearby farm.
Elizabeth was drawn to EARTH’s one degree program because it meant she would be able to study agriculture in depth. Her community depends on agriculture, but an unstable climate lends to unpredictable harvests.
After completing her studies at EARTH she wants to return to Nyahururu, because “By the time I’m finishing my education here, I know I will have a lot of skills, and when I go back to my community I want to transform it.”
