César’s family is from Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. While attending secondary school at Loyola Polytechnic Institute, or IPL, (Instituto Politecnico Loyola) a business project taught him a lot about nutrition procedures and piqued his interest in agronomy.
César likes agriculture because, “I like to help. I wanted to study something that would allow me to serve others, especially an important career like this that allows me to produce food and help those with low incomes learn how to grow food for themselves.” After graduation, César plans to open a health and nutrition business. He loves everything that goes into food production, not just growing crops, but also making butter, marmalade and cheese. He wants to improve the processes used in the Dominican Republic, address the overuse of chemical fertilizers, and teach people in the food industry how to properly handle food.
