During their fourth year, students must conduct research and write a thesis based on their findings. Graduation projects seek to find applicable solutions to the challenges facing the tropics and their communities.
Through this project, students develop and demonstrate the ability to:
- Recognize research needs
- Gather data from the farms, laboratories and library
- Analyze and convert information into charts, figures or text
- Compile and present information clearly and precisely using the scientific method
- Think critically and creatively in discussing research results
- Provide and receive group analysis as a professional and respectful team member
- Design and follow a work plan, which meets course deadlines and requirements of the advisor
- Effectively communicate the results of their study both orally and in writing
