Yanine Chan Blanco

BIO

After 22 years as an EARTH professor, Yanine Chan, was named Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Chan is the first woman on EARTH’s campus to hold this leadership role, responsible for shepherding the University’s education model and academic development. Her caring and students-first nature, along with her unrelenting commitment to EARTH’s mission in everything she does, made her a natural fit for the role. She previously served as a professor of Food Processing and Food Industrialization to fourth year students. She also coordinated the Food-processing Laboratory responsible for processing foodstuffs produced at EARTH and the Dairy Plant, which aim to develop the necessary skills for the processing of fresh products, add value in order to open new markets for non-traditional agricultural products. Before arriving at EARTH she worked at the Food Research Center (CITA) at the University of Costa Rica. Yanine holds a M.Sc. Degree in Food Science and a Ph.D. degree in Food Technology from the Université de Montpellier I, France.
