Tobias holds a PhD in agricultural economics from the University of Bonn and an MSc equivalent in agricultural economics from the University of Hohenheim, both in Germany. After completion of the doctoral thesis in 2007 he worked as a senior researcher at the Center for Development Research (ZEF) in Bonn. Tobias joined EARTH in 2016. He teaches agricultural economics, supervises the students´ entrepreneurial projects and coordinates part of the university´s activities in local community development. His research interests encompass three main areas: 1. agricultural farmer innovations and innovation systems,2. environmental conservation with a focus on forests (including topics such as payments for ecosystem services and conservation auctions), and 3. adaptation to climate change (including topics such as technology adoption and the modelling of adaptation processes).
