Gustavo Castro Garcia is a professor of the courses Agricultural Equipment Operation and Mechanical Skills, both in the first year of his career. Since 2015, Gustavo has been applying hands-on learning pedagogy to train young leaders in rural agricultural development. His areas of interest are bioconstruction (bamboo), agricultural machinery, watershed management, and solid and liquid waste management. He graduated as an agricultural engineer in 2009 from the Universidad del Valle, in agreement with the Universidad Nacional (Colombia). He also has a master’s degree in Sanitary and Environmental Engineering from the Universidad del Valle (Colombia) and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez.
