Dr. Alexander Mendoza is a professor of the courses Tropical Crop Production, Sustainable Crop Production, and Community Development. He has a solid background in agronomy: he graduated from EARTH University, completed a master's degree in Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resource Management, and holds a Ph.D. in Sustainable Agriculture, receiving both degrees from the University of Bonn, Germany. During his professional career, he has held different positions in organizations associated with international cooperation, in Latin America, Africa, and Europe. He has worked on issues such as fund management and implementation of projects and programs aimed at rural development, food security, climate change, energy management and sustainable production, and fair trade and bioeconomy. Before working at EARTH, Dr. Mendoza was Director of Research and Technology Transfer at the National Rice Corporation of Costa Rica. In addition, he has worked as an international consultant for the public and private sectors for over 15 years. He combines teaching, research, and field work to promote sustainable agriculture and fair trade. He has authored and co-authored technical and scientific publications and participates as a speaker in different international activities.
