Alex is the professor of Applied Ecology for third-year students and participates in the Work Experience course in the area of forestry. She also conducts research related to the evaluation of ecosystem health, species richness and biodiversity inventories in the artificial and natural wetlands and in different forest fragments at EARTH. Alex is from England, where she studied a B.Sc in Physical Geography at Leicester University. Later she completed her Ph.D. in Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles where she researched the impact of climate change on the distribution of tropical plants. The main objective of her class is to permit students to develop their abilities in the critical appraisal of research, synthesis and analysis of ecological information and data in order to strengthen their capacity to manage environmental resources in a sustainable way.
