Otto was downgraded from hurricane to tropical storm early this Wednesday, as confirmed by the National Hurricane Center in the United States and the National Meteorological Institute of Costa Rica (IMN).

Nevertheless, the atmospheric phenomenon maintains speed of up to 110 km/h; authorities have called upon the population to keep alert and informed about the weather.

Experts from the IMN explained that although the system weakened somewhat, it can very well strengthen once again in the afternoon and regain the category of hurricane.
