Arturo Condo will become EARTH University’s second president, effective January 1, 2017.

Dr. Condo served as President of INCAE Business School for eight years, from 2007 to 2015. Prior to that, he was Dean of the MBA Program, Dean of Innovation and Development, and Director of the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS). A native of Ecuador and resident of Costa Rica, Condo is married and has three children.

“Arturo brings to EARTH a distinguished record of leadership and academic achievement,” said Tim Solso, Chair of the EARTH University Board of Directors. “His commitment to higher education as a principal change agent, his values, and his vision make him an exemplary choice for EARTH’s next leader. Dr. Condo’s expertise in the area of strategic planning, his grasp of key global issues, and his commitment to creating a more just and prosperous society were crucial elements in the board’s enthusiastic endorsement.”

Condo is a strong believer in the power of youth to change the world. He is the founding curator of the San Jose Hub of the Global Shapers Community, part of the World Economic Forum. His work also focuses on gender equality, having founded INCAE’s Center for Women’s Leadership.

In accepting the presidency, Condo said, “It is an exceptional opportunity and a great honor to lead EARTH University, an institution focused on educating leaders to create a more prosperous, sustainable and just society, especially in rural areas of the world.  Under the leadership of Dr. Zaglul, EARTH has become an exemplar for 21st century higher education. Its impact extends far beyond the classroom and its graduates.  I look forward to working with the EARTH community and its partners around the world to accelerate change towards a better future for all humanity.”

Condo has a Doctorate from Harvard Business School in business strategy and competitiveness and serves as Senior Institute Associate of Harvard’s Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness. In 2007, the World Economic Forum (WEF) recognized him as a Young Global Leader, an honor bestowed to “recognize and acknowledge the most extraordinary leaders of the world under the age of 40.”
