Recently the World Economic Forum held a conversation about partnerships in Africa. The participants were former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair, American businessman and philanthropist Howard Buffett, and Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda. During the conversation, the importance of agriculture was discussed, and EARTH University was cited as an excellent example of success in agriculture education. The Forum’s recognition of the importance that agricultural education plays in the development of poor and middle income countries is an implicit endorsement of EARTH’s mission. Buffett’s citing of EARTH as a model in agricultural education is affirmation of all we believe and strive to do. Finally, Buffett’s decision to establish an institute in Rwanda based on the model of EARTH is a vote of confidence in the impact of our model.
