Two EARTH graduates nominated for Latin American Green Awards

The Latin American Green Awards are a celebration of the growing environmental awareness found throughout Latin America, and serves as an annual gathering space for those who are committed to environmental conservation and protection in the region. In 2015, more than 1,000 projects were submitted and of those, just 18 were selected to compete for the final six awards.

This year, two EARTH University graduates and their projects have been nominated for awards in the “Human development and education” and “Waste” categories: Manfred Kopper (’07, Costa Rica) with the Asociación Empresarial para el Desarrollo (Entrepreneurial Association for Development) and Lucía González (’04, Costa Rica) with Yo Composteo (I Compost).

The Latin American Green Awards will take place from September 23 to 25.

The event will be held from September 23-25 in Guayaquil, Ecuador and will feature several keynote speakers, including EARTH’s Vice President of Development Gerardo Mirabelli.

The Awards Ceremony will be hosted by Roberto Manrique, Mónica Noguera and Mónica Fonseca, with a musical performance from the Recycled Instrument Band of Paraguay.

The six categories are:

  • Water
  • Biodiversity and Forests
  • Human Development and Education
  • Energy
  • Waste
  • Carbon Emissions
