EARTH University sets new world record

Over 600 members of the EARTH community came together for the record setting

Over 600 members of the EARTH community came together for the record setting “Illuminating Dreams” event in November, 2013.

On Wednesday May 21, EARTH University was officially recognized by RecordSetter as the world record holder for “Most Christmas Lights Illuminated by Human Energy for 24 Hours”.

The record was set during the “Illuminating Dreams” event that took place on November 21-22, 2013, on EARTH’s Guacímo campus. Over 600 students, staff, faculty and friends from the EARTH community came together to light up more than 1,600 Christmas lights for 24 consecutive hours, using human energy produced by pedaling bicycles connected to a generator.

Persons or organizations looking to challenge EARTH University’s record will have to abide by the following rules (as defined by RecordSetter):

  1. Energy must be produced by human activity
  2. Lights must be on for at least 24 hours
  3. Must provide video evidence
