EARTH participates in the World Banana Summit

From November 11-13, 2013 the EARTH Alumni Association of Ecuador (AGEARTH) participated in the World Banana Summit held in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

The World Banana Summit is the most important banana industry event in Ecuador, and includes: a scientific conference featuring the latest industry research, a day in the field visiting banana plantations, and a commercial expo where businesses display their products and generate new business contacts and relationships.
President of AGEARTH-Ecuador and EARTH graduate Fabián Castillo (2000, Ecuador) was one of the principal organizers of the 2013 World Banana Summit, and also coordinated EARTH University’s stand at the commercial expo, promoting the University among the more than 450 attendees.

Also representing EARTH at the Summit was Professor Carlos Demerutis, who gave presentations entitled, “Major Fruit Quality Complaints in Local Markets” and “Managing Temperatures of Fresh Fruit from Packing to Delivery in Consumer Markets,” to small producers, business owners, EARTH graduates and invited guests.
