Outgoing Student Union president, Nigerian John Adamu, is congratulated by the AU vice chancellor, Dr. Fanuel Tagwira and EARTH provost Dr. Daniel Sherrard.

On June 8, 2013, EARTH University provost Dr. Daniel Sherrard delivered the commencement address for the 475 graduates of the class of 2013 at Africa University (AU) in Zimbabwe.  The invitation follows Provost Sherrard’s leadership in fostering collaboration between EARTH University and numerous African institutions of higher learning in agriculture.

During the address, Sherrard remarked that AU and EARTH were created to, “produce leaders, agents of change who in their professional capacity, in their communities and in their families would be capable of making significant contributions to resolving the challenges confronting our world,” and advised graduates to focus on how they can contribute.

AU is a private Pan African institution that was founded by the United Methodist Church (UMC) in March 1992. It is an honor for EARTH University to be represented abroad, and the invitation is yet another step forward in strengthening EARTH’s relationships with African institutions.
