Last Tuesday afternoon May 21st, EARTH University hosted the Minister of Agriculture from the Republic of Guyana, Dr. Leslie S. Ramsammy. The minister arrived with a delegation of seven representatives from the Guyanese ministry and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) of Guyana and Costa Rica.
The goal of the visit was to learn about EARTH University and the impact our students and graduates have made in agriculture. The group was greeted by Mario Piedra, Director of the Permanent Education Program (PEP) and given a presentation of the EARTH academic model by Junior Acosta, Director of Admissions. The delegation then explored the peri-urban farm, guided by students Hajaratu Wumbei (’15, Ghana) and Michel Chamoun (’15, Ecuador).
