Ten women belonging to The Association of Women Entrepreneurs of La Florita community (ASOFLORISTAS) received thirty cows thanks to the collaborative efforts of EARTH students, faculty and staff and with the support of IMAS (Costa Rican Institute of Social Welfare) and ASOFLORISTAS.

These animals will provide the beneficiary families with a milk source for improved nutrition, economic savings and manure to generate compost and biogas through bio-digesters. In addition, it is an opportunity to strengthen the entrepreneurial capacity of the association’s members.

This project complements the efforts made by the University’s Community Development Program (CDP) to promote rural development through agricultural, educational, organizational and environmental programs.
