March 15, 2012—This week EARTH University is mourning the unexpected passing of board member Freddy Burgoa Zalles. Mr. Burgoa who had served on EARTH’s Board of Directors since 2001 most recently holding the post of Secretary, was a Bolivian business leader who held a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University and a Master’s degree from National University. He will be remembered for his kindness and smile, and as a dedicated and highly committed Board member who formed tight bonds with the students, particularly those from Bolivia, and provided thoughtful guidance to the Institution’s leadership.
Remarked EARTH president José Zaglul, “We are all deeply impacted by the news of the passing of Freddy Burgoa, who along with three of our founding board members who died in recent months—Hernán Fonseca, Rodolfo Cortés and Jorge Manuel Dengo—gave so much to make our Institution possible. We must take a moment to stop and recognize this great loss and the legacy that he has left.”
The EARTH community extends its deepest condolences to his family.
