Integrated waste management program

General Objective:
Manage the University’s waste by implementing alternative
and innovative technologies in order to protect the environment.
Specific Objectives:
• Educate the EARTH community about the use of resources and
the disposal of solid waste.
• Promote good practices.
• Promote health and hygiene.
• Protect the environment.
• Improve relations with neighboring communities and the Government.
• Follow national laws and regulations.
• Contribute to the institution’s mission.
Action Plans
• Manage the solid waste generated by the University.
• Train staff and first year students annually.
• Evaluate the efficiency of waste classification at the source
(at the 49 sub-collection centers).
• Provide feedback to each office and residence regarding
their level of waste classification efficiency.
• Motivate and build consciousness through the use of various
internal communication methods.
• Transfer theoretical and practical knowledge by training
visitors, institutions and businesses.
Indicators:
• Waste production per capita: 910 grams
• Daily production of solid waste: 970 kilograms
• Efficiency in the classification of solid waste at the source:
90%
• Recycling rate: 64% of waste generated is recycled
• Number of people trained by activities and programs: 1,351
