What is your dream for 2014?
For Betania Taquiva Ramírez (‘16,Venezuela) it is helping develop sustainable businesses for indigenous communities in Costa Rica as part of her Entrepreneurial Project. For Tamba Abdulai Konah (‘16, Sierra Leone) it is learning more about banana production in order to add this crop to a project in his community that is financing secondary school for young people in Sierra Leone.
Illuminating these and many more dreams of our students and of disadvantaged communities around the globe is EARTH’s mission. In celebration of the holidays and in symbolic representation of this commitment, from November 21-22 we illuminated the iconic Jacaranda tree on our campus with our own energy. For 24 hours, some 600 students, professors, staff and friends of EARTH rode 10 bicycles connected to a generator to continually power 1600 holiday lights, which symbolize the dreams of our students for 2014.
When you submit your dream for 2014 on our website and share it on Twitter and/or Facebook, or when you give a gift to EARTH and encourage your friends to do so too, you become a dream maker. Now is the time to illuminate dreams and fill the Earth with the light that will guide us towards a more prosperous and just future.
